Abstract

Objective: To assess quality of life among outpatients with anxiety disorders at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 214 outpatients diagnosed with anxiety disorders (ICD-10 codes F40–F41) at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from July to December 2025. Quality of life was assessed using the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36), and anxiety severity was measured using the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS).. Results: The mean SF-36 score was 49.8 ± 18.3, with the majority of participants reported moderate quality of life (81.8%). The mean Zung anxiety score was 52.3 ± 11.1, with most patients presenting mild-to-moderate anxiety (47.7%). Anxiety severity showed a significant strong inverse correlation with quality of life (r = −0.671; p<0.001). Conclusion: Outpatients with anxiety disorders exhibited moderate quality of life, and anxiety severity was significantly associated with poorer quality of life.
