Treatment adherence among glaucoma outpatients at Hai Chau District Health Center

Objective: To determine the rate of treatment adherence and identify associated factors among glaucoma outpatients at Hai Chau District Health Center in 2025. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 200 glaucoma patients receiving outpatient treatment from May to August 2025. Data were collected through direct interviews using the GRACE questionnaire. Data were entered and analyzed using SPSS version 26.0, employing descriptive statistics, the Chi-square test, and Fisher’s exact test with p < 0.05. Results: The rate of treatment adherence was 39.0%. Factors significantly associated with adherence included age, occupation, income, duration of treatment, number of medications used, and medication side effects. Conclusion: Treatment adherence among glaucoma patients remains limited. Strengthening health education, standardizing eye-drop administration techniques, and enhancing the role of nurses in monitoring and supporting patients are essential to improve treatment outcomes and contribute to blindness prevention.
