Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

1. General Principles

The Da Nang Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy (DJMP) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, research integrity, transparency, objectivity, and accountability throughout the processes of manuscript submission, peer review, editorial handling, and publication.

DJMP requires authors, reviewers, editors, and all parties involved in the publication process to comply with principles of ethical conduct and research integrity appropriate to biomedical and health sciences publishing.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, honesty, and integrity of work submitted to DJMP. Authors must ensure that:

• The manuscript is original;
• Data and results are reported honestly and are not fabricated or falsified;
• All sources are appropriately cited and acknowledged;
• Authorship accurately reflects actual contributions;
• Funding sources and conflicts of interest are fully disclosed;
• Applicable research ethics requirements are followed;
• The manuscript is not submitted simultaneously to multiple journals;
• Any use of artificial intelligence is disclosed in accordance with DJMP policy.
3. Authorship and Contributions

Authorship must accurately identify individuals who have made substantive contributions to the work and who take responsibility for the content of the article.

DJMP does not accept honorary authorship, guest authorship, or ghost authorship. Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria should be appropriately acknowledged in the Acknowledgements or Contribution Statement.

Further details are provided in the Authorship and Contribution Policy.

4. Plagiarism and Originality

DJMP does not accept practices including:

• Plagiarism;
• Duplicate publication;
• Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals;
• Fabrication or falsification of data;
• Manipulation of images or data in a misleading manner;
• Misleading citation practices or other conduct that may compromise the integrity of the scientific record.

The Journal may use appropriate measures to assess similarity and investigate concerns relating to scientific integrity.

5. Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, personal data, medical records, biological specimens, or animals must comply with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

Where appropriate, authors must provide information regarding:

• Approval by an ethics committee or institutional review board;
• Approval number or reference code;
• Informed consent for participation;
• Protection of privacy and confidentiality;
• Other relevant ethical requirements.
6. Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors must disclose financial and non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence, or could reasonably be perceived to influence, the research.

Funding sources must be disclosed transparently. Reviewers and editors must also disclose any relevant conflicts of interest and withdraw from handling a manuscript if objectivity may be compromised.

7. Responsibilities of Reviewers
• Evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and on a scientific basis;
• Maintain manuscript confidentiality;
• Do not use unpublished data or ideas for personal benefit;
• Disclose conflicts of interest;
• Notify the Journal of suspected misconduct or ethical concerns.
8. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining a fair, objective, and confidential editorial process.

Editors must not use unpublished information for personal benefit and must withdraw from handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.

Editorial decisions must be based on scientific merit, research quality, relevance to the aims and scope of DJMP, and compliance with Journal policies.

9. Confidentiality

Unpublished manuscripts are considered confidential material.

Editors, reviewers, and other authorized individuals with access to a manuscript must not disclose or use its content, data, results, or ideas beyond what is necessary for editorial and publication purposes.

10. Use of Artificial Intelligence

DJMP requires the use of AI to comply with principles of transparency, confidentiality, accountability, and verifiability.

AI tools must not be listed as authors. Human authors remain responsible for all content submitted to DJMP.

Editors and reviewers must not upload manuscripts or confidential materials to AI systems that do not meet applicable confidentiality requirements.

11. Handling Misconduct

When DJMP identifies or receives information concerning possible misconduct involving a submitted manuscript or published article, the Journal may:

• Request an explanation from the authors;
• Request relevant data or supporting documentation;
• Suspend manuscript processing;
• Seek advice from experts or appropriate authorities;
• Reject the manuscript;
• Issue a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction where appropriate.
12. Protection of the Scientific Record

DJMP is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scientific record.

Where necessary, the Journal may take post-publication actions, including:

Correction
Retraction
Expression of Concern

Such actions should be implemented transparently and clearly linked to the relevant published article.
