Research Data and Funding Policy
The Da Nang Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy (DJMP) encourages responsible research data management, transparency regarding funding sources, and appropriate data sharing in order to enhance the verifiability, reuse, and reliability of scientific research.
Authors are responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and accountability of the data underlying the results reported in their articles.
Research data must be collected, managed, analyzed, and reported honestly. DJMP does not accept:
Authors must maintain appropriate research records and data to allow accountability for published findings.
Authors must be able to review the data underlying the study results.
For collaborations between academic institutions and non-academic organizations, DJMP recommends that at least one academic author have access to the original data and be able to participate in data analysis.
For funded research, agreements with sponsors must not prevent authors from accessing the data necessary to assess, analyze, and interpret the findings. DJMP may request clarification regarding who had access to the data and who participated in data analysis.
Authors are responsible for retaining research data and related documentation in accordance with:
Data should be retained in a manner that preserves integrity, confidentiality, and retrievability when needed. DJMP does not prescribe a single retention period for all research where legal or disciplinary requirements differ.
DJMP encourages appropriate sharing of research data where such sharing does not violate ethical, privacy, confidentiality, legal, or intellectual property requirements.
Data sharing must comply with the conditions to which participants consented and with applicable ethical and legal requirements.
DJMP encourages research articles to include a Data Availability Statement. The statement should inform readers whether data are shared, which data are available, where they are stored, conditions of access, and reasons for any restrictions.
For articles reporting results of clinical trials, DJMP requires an appropriate Data Sharing Statement. At a minimum, the statement should specify:
DJMP does not require authors to make data publicly available where sharing would:
In such cases, authors should explain why the data cannot be shared publicly rather than simply stating that “data are unavailable.”
When using datasets created by others, authors must:
During manuscript assessment or when scientific integrity concerns arise, DJMP may request:
Data provided to DJMP must comply with confidentiality requirements and protections for research participants. Failure to provide necessary data without a reasonable explanation may affect manuscript assessment or lead to review under DJMP’s research integrity policies.
All manuscripts must include a Funding Statement, including where no specific funding was received.
Where research is funded, authors must disclose the role of the funder, if any, in:
If the funder had no role in these activities, this should be stated explicitly.
Funders must not impose terms that compromise the scientific independence of authors. Authors should not enter into agreements that:
Research Funding and Conflicts of Interest must be disclosed separately.
Receiving funding does not automatically mean that a conflict of interest exists; conversely, an author may have a conflict of interest even when the research receives no direct funding. Authors must complete both disclosures in accordance with DJMP policies.
