Abstract

Objectives: 1. To describe the clinical characteristics of anal fissure in patients treated at the Department of Surgery–Gynecology, Danang City Traditional Medicine Hospital from April 2025 to September 2025. 2. To evaluate the therapeutic effects of Fibraurea tinctoria combined with Tamanu oil in the treatment of anal fissure. Method: This study used a clinical interventional design with pre- and post-treatment comparisons. Results: In our study, the condition was more common in females than in males, with a mean age of 37.56 ± 17.30 years. The most frequent clinical symptom was anal pain, reported in 96% of patients, while rectal bleeding during defecation accounted for 56%. A single fissure was observed in 84% of cases, and most lesions were acute fissures. Following treatment, the majority of patients experienced a significant reduction in anal pain. When comparing pain severity at D0, D7, and D14, the majority of patients initially presented with moderate-to-severe pain (98%). By day 7, no patients reported severe pain, and 44% reported only mild pain. By day 14, 96% of patients were either pain-free or had minimal pain. The mean VAS score significantly decreased from 5.58 ± 1.16 before treatment to 2.92 ± 1.25 on day 7 and 0.64 ± 0.87 on day 14 (p < 0.05). The average duration of post-defecation pain decreased from 50.10 ± 7,43 minutes at baseline to 9.48 ± 9.56 minutes on day 7 and to 1.54 ± 3.62 minutes on day 14, indicating a statistically significant improvement. Rectal bleeding also improved markedly. At baseline, 56% of patients presented with bleeding during defecation; after 7 days of treatment, only two patients had minimal bleeding noted on toilet paper, and by day 14, no bleeding was observed (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The combination of Fibraurea tinctoria and Tamanu oil in the treatment of anal fissure has good results
